NBA News And Rumors: Doc Rivers And The Los Angeles Clippers Express Mutual Interest, Paul Pierce And Kevin Garnett Could Follow

It appears the Doc Rivers and Boston Celtics situation will continue to get bizarre as new reports suggest that he and the Los Angeles Clippers now have a "mutual interest" that has left Rivers "highly intrigued" about the possibility of coaching the young western squad.

To make things more suspenseful, the Clippers are also said to still be interested in acquiring Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett in the mixing pot in order to further lure Rivers into taking the job.

This news comes just a day after Rivers expressed his openness to seek jobs in the NBA, providing it's a good situation and that the team and the Celtics can agree on fair compensation.

Sources insist that Rivers is angry with reports that he is at odds with Danny Ainge, president of basketball operations, about the direction of the Celtics moving forward.

"None of what's happening now is tied to Paul (Pierce) or Kevin (Garnett) or any of that," the source said. "There's always been a very good relationship with Danny, and that's one of the biggest reasons why he'll still probably come back. The rebuilding has been coming for a while. It easily could have happened last year. (Rivers has) known all about it and been part of the conversations and decisions."

Rivers has long said that he wanted to be liker former Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan and San Antonio Spurs' Gregg Popovich, as respected leaders with long careers with one franchise, but sources say that Rivers has now been intrigued by some high profile jobs that are-or could be-available.
