NBA Playoffs 2013 Bracket: Miami Heat & Indiana Pacers Still Battling, Spurs Advance to Finals

The NBA Playoff brackets have one of the two teams playing for the championship. The San Antonio Spurs are chilling and relaxing as they await their opponent in the NBA Finals following their sweep of the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday evening. The Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers are still active as they have only played three games, with Game 4 scheduled to take place Tuesday evening. Here is what the updated NBA Playoff bracket.

The Spurs surprisingly cruised in the Western Conference Finals, putting the Grizzlies away in four straight games. The Grizzlies were close, but San Antonio held their ground barely allowing the Grizzlies to have a lead in any of the games. After Memphis went undefeated at home in the first two rounds of the playoffs, the Spurs came into the FedEx Forum and eliminated the Grizzlies from the playoffs.

This is San Antonio's second sweep of the playoffs after they beat the Los Angeles Lakers in four games. They struggled with the Golden State Warriors, but eventually won that series in six games. Now, the Spurs will once again have an extended break as they wait for the Pacers or the Heat to win their series. The Spurs will be well rested, which is good for the veterans on that team.

This is our best illustration of how the Spurs wound up in the NBA Finals. So far, in the 2013 NBA Playoffs, no other team has been as dominant as San Antonio has gone 12-2 in the postseason.

OKC Thunder

Houston Rockets----- Thunder

L.A. Clippers........................................Western Conference Finals
vs.
Memphis Grizzlies----- Grizzlies ----------GRIZZLIES

Denver Nuggets
vs.
G.S.Warriors------------ Warriors ............................................FINALS: SPURS

San Antonio Spurs
vs.
Los Angeles Lakers--- Spurs------------ SPURS

That's what happened as the Spurs avoided matchups against teams like the Nuggets and Clippers, who, though not heavy favorites, had pretty strong teams and play at a quick pace. The Warriors have had the best chance against the Spurs so far in this series and they are probably the last team people would have expected to challenge the Spurs.

The Eastern Conference has yet to be decided, but the series can either be a step closer to concluding or the Pacers can guarantee there will at least be a Game 6. The Heat are up 2-1 in the series. With a Game 4 victory, the Heat can crush the Pacers' hopes and lock up the series in Miami in Game 5. LeBron James is averaging close to 30 points per game and once he gets going, well expect the rest of the team to come alive.

This is what the Eastern Conference bracket looks like so far:
