EPL Transfer News: Fulham Swoop for Amorebieta and Boateng on Free Transfers

Fulham, after making the deal for Sascha Riether permanent, have added two more experienced players to their lineup for next season by sealing the singings of Fernando Amorebieta from Athletic Bilbao and Derek Boateng from Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk on free transfers.

Amorebieta, who at one point was linked to Arsenal, signed a four-year contract with the Cottagers, while Boateng put pen to paper on a one-year deal with an option for a further year.

The Venezuelan international Amorebieta would have been out of contract at Bilbao, and has made 250 appearances for the Spanish club over eight seasons.

"I'm delighted to have signed a four-year deal with Fulham and I'm looking forward to competing in the Barclays Premier League next season," he told the club's official website.

"I'm impressed with the talent already at the club and I look forward to meeting the players for preseason training in July."

Boateng is a long-term target of Martin Jol, with Fulham failing in their bid to land the midfielder on several occasions in the past, but finally getting their man after confirmation of international clearance.

"Fulham Football Club is delighted to announce the free transfer signing of Ghana international Derek Boateng on a one-year deal with an option for a further year," the club said in a statement on their website.

The 30-year-old Ghana international started his career in Greece, and has also played for clubs in Israel, Germany, Spain and Ukraine.

"I'm very happy that I have signed and I want to thank the chairman, the manager and the board at Fulham Football Club," Boateng said after arriving at Fulham's Motspur Park training ground.

"I've been working hard to come here and I'll do my best for the Club.

"It's been a long road for me but now I'm here I'm so happy and I can't wait to start and give everything I have."
