Calvin Johnson Broken Fingers Last Season Shows Why Jerry Rice Record Is Even More Impressive As Detroit Lions Receiver Goes For 2,000 Yards In 2013

Calvin Johnson made history for the Detroit Lions last season by breaking Jerry Rice's single season receiving yards record and after finding out that he had two broken fingers all year, it's amazing to wonder what his follow up will be in 2013.

According to ESPN.com, Johnson played last season with two broken fingers and said that he played with his fingers taped mostly while setting the record for receiving yards in a season. He denied at one point last year that they were broken and marks another time that he has played with injuries, including last year when he suffered nerve damage.

The work by Johnson with two broken fingers makes everyone wonder what he could do fully healthy since now he holds the record with 1,964 yards on 122 receptions after Jerry Rice did it 1,848 yards in 1995 for the 49ers. Johnson had just five touchdown catches from last season, down a whopping 11 from the previous year with 16 and he said that the drops were on him and not his fingers.

Johnson also set a record with 100 yards receiving in eight games in a row and also became the first with 10 catches in four straight games. He had 11 games with 100 yards receiving last season, matching Michael Irvin's record from back in the day.
