Brian Urlacher Vikings Rumors Run Wild, Is Linebacker Really Interested?

The lasted rumors have Brian Urlacher becoming a Minnesota Viking or even joining Peyton Manning in Denver. However, as much as Urlacher would love to return to the NFL, the Vikings rumors aren't 100 percent. At least not yet.

The eight-time pro-bowler is looking for employment and the Vikings have been in touch with Urlacher over the last couple of months, but no signing has been reached and apparently it all seems to be rumors.

First of all, according to "Around the League" writer, Chris Wesseling, the deal with the Bronco is just a rumor being passed around. The Broncos haven't reached the linebacker, nor are they interested in Urlacher's services.

Now as far as the Vikings, Urlacher knows the NFC North like the back of his hands having played with the Chicago Bears for his entire 13-year career. In the 2012 season, Urlacher started 12 games, completed 53 tackles, returned an interception for a touchdown and had two forced fumbles. Those are solid numbers for a guy who's about to turn 35 years old.

The Vikings could use some help at the middle linebacker position, since, as Wessling points out, the Vikings didn't fill that hole in the most recent draft and would therefore have to hurry guys up to the pros. Urlacher would fill a position of need and would likely not be so costly.

Urlacher doesn't appear to mind suiting up for the Vikings. In order to find out how interested the Vikings are, patience will be key. The date to keep in mind is June 1 as the Vikings will like to see how much salary cap is available.
