Tiger Woods Bad Drop? Marshals Say Golfer Lied About Sergio Garcia Shot After Pulling Club At Players Championship, Woods Favorite For U.S. Open Major?

Tiger Woods won the Players Championship on Sunday but not without some controversy after dealing with Sergio Garcia on Saturday and now the marshals have gotten involved, disputing some of what Woods said about the incident.

According to ESPN.com, the marshals said on Monday that they refuted what Woods said about them saying that Garcia had already hit his shot when he pulled a club from his bag. The incident began when Garcia felt he was distracted from his shot after Woods pulled a club near the crowd to reporters later on, which Woods responded that he thought he had hit already since the marshals said he had hit.

Later on Sunday the two shook hands and played their four holes together and did not say a word again, while the marshals came out on Monday and said that Woods was mistaken. On Sunday marshal Gary Anderson said that Woods didn't ask anything and that they did not say anything to him. Chief marshal John North was also on the hole at the time and said that the marshals said nothing to him and that he was disappointed at hearing the remarks from him.

Woods and Garcia were tied at the end after he hit his ball into the water at 14, but Garcia eventually imploded like usual and Woods won his fourth tournament of the year, his most before June since 2001.

"The marshals, they told me he already hit, so I pulled a club and was getting ready to play my shot," Woods explained. "And then I hear [Garcia's] comments afterward, and it's not real surprising that he's complaining about something."
