NFL Free Agent Rumors: Max Starks Option For San Diego As Dallas Cowboys Look At Eric Winston Afetr Losing Tyson Clabo To Miami Dolphins

The San Diego Chargers have some offensive line issues even after taking DJ Fluker from Alabama in the NFL draft and one option the team could look at after ditching left tackle Jared Gaither could be former Pittsburgh Steeler Max Starks.

According to NFL.com, so far the Chargers have not reached out to Starks and the team is still without a legitimate left tackle as the offseason continues. The team went after tackle Bryant McKinnie before he signed with the Ravens and the team now has also lost out on the chance to sign Tyson Clabo, as he is now with the Miami Dolphins. Apart from Starks, another option could be Eric Winston, who is a right tackle but likely would be an upgrade over King Dunlap at left tackle and Kevin Haslam.

The Chargers wanted to get Lane Johnson or one of the top tackles in the draft, but after those players went, they picked Fluker instead. Gaither was injured last season and was cut despite his salary cap number and Dunlap has started nearly 20 games over the past three seasons, but he is not considered a top of the line starter. Starks could be an option, as could Eric Winston, although the Dallas Cowboys have also gone after him and could sign him if they cut Doug Free.

Winston is a veteran starter ad a tough guy that can play in the trenches and after allowing six sacks last season and playing in every game since 2007 with the Texans and Chiefs, he could be a reliable option. Winston is tough and allowed six quarterback hits and 25 quarterback hurries last year with Kansas City, who had a similar style QB to the Chargers. Winston was released by the Chiefs and had interest from the Dolphins, but they went after Clabo.

The Dolphins brought in Clabo after losing out on Jake Long and the tackles in the draft and he has been reliable as well while starting all games since 2008 and he allowed six sacks last season with the Falcons.
