Boston Bombing Suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev Called Uncle After Attack Before Watertown Police Shooting Death, Nephew Asked For Forgiveness (VIDEO)

Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are the primary suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing and on Thursday night before the two were in a firefight and police chase, Tamerlan called his uncle and asked for forgiveness for his role in the attack, speaking to him for the first time in two years.

According to USA Today, the now slain 26-year-old called his uncle and spoke to him around 7 pm for about five minutes and spoke about what happened and asked for forgiveness. Alvi Tsarnaev spoke to The (Westchester County, N.Y.) Journal News and said that Tamerlan said he loved him and also asked about their family back in Russia and other details, staring off with an Arabic greeting.

"He said, 'I love you and forgive me,' " said Alvi Tsarnaev, who lives in Montgomery Village, Md. "We were not talking for a long time because there were some problems," he said, without elaborating. "We were not happy with each other."

The brothers lived together in Cambridge and Tamerlan was attending Bunker Hill Community College and he previously was an amateur boxer in the Golden Gloves competition. The brothers led police on a chase on Thursday night after robbing a store and killing a police officer, stealing a car and heading into Watertown, which is now locked down. The two were in a firefight with police that saw on suspect get killed and the other get away and is still at large.

Authorities arte piecing together information from area residents and acquaintances as they try and figure out the motive behind the original attack. The FBI has spoken with relatives, while Boston has been places on virtual lockdown as the authorities search Watertown for the missing suspect.
