Boston Suspects Manhunt Lockdown: Tamerlan Tsarnaev Was Amateur Boxer, Said He Liked USA After Golden Gloves Championship Win (PHOTOS)

Following a dramatic showdown in Watertown on Thursday night, authorities were seeking more information about suspects Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and the motives they may have had in setting off the Boston marathon explosions.

According to the NY Times, Tamerlan was an amateur boxer and winning the 2010 New England Golden Gloves Championship in Lowell he spoke with the Lowell Sun and said the he "like(d) the USA". The report said that the 26-year-old was a former boxer and died after the firefight on Thursday night after possibly having explosives on him when confronted by police.

His brother Dzhokhar was still on the loose in or near Watertown as police and authorities continued to search door to door for him or any information. As more time goes on more information is starting to come out with Tamerlan saying to the Lowell Sun back in 2004, "I like the USA ... America has a lot of jobs. That's something Russia doesn't have. You have a chance to make money here if you are willing to work," he said.

According to the Sun report, he came to the United States with his family following the Russia-Chechen conflict and fought as a boxer in the 178-pound novice class and later was on Team New England in the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions in 2009 and 2010. Many friend and acquaintances were surprised by the news and others presented him as a nice boy while being a boxer.

The brothers led police on a chase on Thursday night after being spotted after robbing a convenience store and then they stole a car and headed into Watertown. The suspects shot a police officer and later got into the shootout that left the boxing brother dead. More information is being sought out by authorities and they have spoken with family members and other acquaintances while searching the area.
