Kobe Bryant Photo in Surgery: Lakers Guard on Bed in Hospital Before Undergoing Achilles Procedure

What would they be called? Patient's scrubs? The pacient scrubs? Kobe Bryant hit the surgery room to get surgery on his left Achilles tendon, which he ruptured against the Golden State Warriors on Friday and had to be removed from the game with just three minutes remaining in the game.

The picture above says it all. Bryant will undergo the biggest procedure in his career. Nevermind the shoulder issues or knee procedures, this is the most painful and, mentally, the toughest injury Bryant has had to deal with in his 16-year NBA career. The look says it all, it's sort of a, "I don't want to be here, but what can we do" look.

Kobe instagramed the photo and said he looked like Ms. Doubtfire, a movie where Robin Williams starred and played a nanny. Bryant is far from taking care of children, but he does resemble so Doubtfire in that gown.

Bryant and the Lakers were in the middle of a playoff run. With two games remaining in the regular season, the Lakers lead the Utah Jazz by a single game in the Western Conference for the final playoff spot. Pau Gasol looks to be playing excellent basketball and together with Dwight Howard, the Lakers can pose a threat, but Bryant's 30-plus points will not be duplicated and suddenly, their playoff hopes are in danger.

With Bryant healthy, the playoffs were a challenge, now it seems difficult. Winning a championship with Bryant in the starting lineup would have been improbable, but now it will almost be impossible.

You can follow Bryant @KobeBryant on instagram where he will surely keep fans posted on his progress.

ESPN tweeted the results of the injury. Bryant has a fully ruptured left Achilles tendon and it will take him 6-9 months to recover fully. Check out the vide of the image in our story.
