Jay-Z Addresses Brooklyn Nets Fans And Selling Of His Shares In New Track (Audio)

Aspiring sports agent hip-hop mogul Jay-Z released a new song entitled "Open Letter" where he addressed some controversy surrounding his recent moves.

Notably he addressed his recent trip with wife Beyonce, but probably the most interesting line was of him addressing the upcoming sale of his small ownership stake in the Brooklyn Nets.

He says:

Would've brought the Nets to Brooklyn for free

Except I made millions off it, you f*ckin' dweebs

I still own the building, I'm still keeping my seat

Y'all buy that bullsh*t, you'd better keep your receipt

The line can be interpreted in many different ways but as I read it I don't get the vibe that he's coming at his hometown.

To me he's clearly saying that even if money wasn't involved he would've jumped at the opportunity to bring the Nets to Brooklyn, but being that it was a good business opportunity for himself, why not take the check.

Also it seems he's saying despite recent reports of him selling his shares he'll still remain a Nets supporter. In a way the new Barclays Center is kind-of the house he built, despite Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov spending millions to own the franchise, Jay-Z was the face of the entire campaign.

Even before the Nets played their first home game in the brand new arena, Jay-Z performed seven concerts in order to raise more buzz on the billion dollar arena.

He had so much involvement with both the arena and the Nets, that it would be hard to believe that him selling his shares means he would sever ties with franchise.

That's almost like him turning his back on his beloved borough of Brooklyn.

Below is a special documentary leading up to the seven concert shows. WARNING EXPLICIT LANGUAGE

Jay-Z, whose real name is Sean Carter, owns less than 1 percent of the Nets and would be required to relinquish his stake in the team in order to represent NBA clients as an agent.

Jay-Z's Roc Nation recently partnered up with Creative Artist Agency (CAA) and landed New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano as his first client.

The idea of selling his shares now is expected to ensure that Roc Nation is to compete for players entering the June NBA draft.

Much like his arrangement with CAA's baseball portion, Jay-Z plans to leave the firm's basketball agents to handle contract negotiations and day-to-day business with athletes. The potential impact of the deal could result with athletes linking to Jay-Z's global reach in marketing, entertainment and business.
