Chelsea Transfer News: Fabio Capello Says He Knows Nothing About Reports Linking Him with Stamford Bridge Job

Russia manager Fabio Capello was quick to deny rumors of him taking up the Chelsea job when the position becomes vacant in the summer.

There have been several names linked with the top job at Stamford Bridge, with Rafa Benitez expected to leave at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Jose Mourinho is thought to be the frontrunner, but the Portuguese is a much wanted man with Paris Saint Germain, Manchester City and Inter Milan also reportedly interested in his signature, and that is if he decides to leave Real Madrid after the current season.

Mourinho has reportedly expressed his preference to join Chelsea and has begun to repair the relationship with owner Roman Abramovich, but there were also recent reports suggesting the Portuguese's agent Jorge Mendes had begun talks with PSG over a summer move.

The likes of Manuel Pellegrini, Diego Simeone, David Moyes, Jurgen Klopp, Antonio Conte and Roberto Martinez have also been linked, but it is looking unlikely that Capello will also throw his hat into the ring for the Blues job in the summer.

The former England manager, who earns a cool £7 million ($11.5 million) a year, has currently led Russia to the top of Group F in the World Cup qualifying campaign with four straight victories and will look to make it five in a row when they visit Northern Ireland Friday.

Russia then take on Brazil in a friendly on Monday, ironically at Stamford Bridge.

Capello, however, said he had no idea about the links with Chelsea and had not been contacted by anyone at the club.

"I know nothing about this (link to Chelsea)," he told reporters. "I am really happy with Russia and focused to qualify for the World Cup."

Roman Abramovich will certainly have an opportunity to have a word with the experienced Italian, though, and it remains to be seen whether there is more to come from this story or not.
