Jim Brown Reconciles With Cleveland Browns After Owner Jimmy Haslam Reaches Out, Team To Sign Brian Urlacher Leaving Chicago Bears?

The Cleveland Browns franchise has a storied history in the sport and running back Jim Brown will now be part of that again, as he will be back with the team in a formal position after speaking with owner Jimmy Haslam.

According to ESPN.com, Brown will have a formal role with the team in the near future after being at odds with the previous regime with team president Mike Holmgren, who removed Brown from his post as an advisor to Randy Lerner. Brown had previously been boycotting the team after that, but came back last year and now will be back in the organization.

"I think he feels good about it, and I think we feel good about it, and rightfully so," Haslam said. "I've really enjoyed getting to know him, not just as a great football player but as a man."

Brown is one of the all-time great running backs and rushed for 12,312 yards in nine seasons with the Browns before retiring from football. His number is retired and Brown is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as well as the franchise's leading rusher.

"Jim Brown and I have spent a lot of time together. We spent about an hour together last night, and I think we've established a really good relationship, and I think sometime over the next two or three weeks we'll formalize that relationship and Jim will play the appropriate role with the Cleveland Browns," Haslam told reporters from the owners meetings in Phoenix.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Halsam said he would not give details yet, as "It's a big deal, and that's why I want to do it right. In the next couple of weeks we'll announce something."

The team could also be in the market for Brian Urlacher, as he could not work out a deal with the Bears and will now leave after 13 seasons. The Browns could be in the market for a linebacker and Urlacher could be the selection.
