Signing day is a huge event for college coaches and this year no conference did better than the SEC, who landed the number one recruit in defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, who selected to go to Ole Miss.
The SEC has won seven straight BCS championships after Alabama repeated this year and the conference looks to continue that streak as they pulled in some of the top recruiting classes in the nation.
Ole Miss was the biggest beneficiary on signing day, snagging Nkemdiche as well as highly-touted players at every position. The Rebels brought in wide receiver Laquon Treadwell and offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and easily have one of the top five classes in the nation.
Mississippi has been a doormat in the SEC for a few years, but now looks like one of the team to beat over the next four years in the conference. Texas A&M also did a stellar job recruiting for the SEC, as the team added a number of weapons to play with Johnny Manziel and the Aggies.
The team added 16 four-star recruits, according to Rivals.com, as well as defensive end Daeshon Hall, who had previously committed to Washington. The Aggies were one of the most popular teams with recruits after many saw what coach Kevin Sumlin did with the offense and Manziel.
Auburn is rebuilding in the SEC after having a disastrous season under Gene Chizik, but the team is already off to a great start under now coach Gus Malzahn, as the Tigers landed five-star defensive end Carl Lawson and fellow lineman Elijah Daniel, who was previously committed to Ole Miss. The team also snagged Montravius Adams, who should help make the line for the Tigers one of the best in the CEC.
Ohio State is not an SEC team, but they may have gotten the best class of anyone. The team went 12-0 last season under Urban Meyer and snagged Vonn Bell, a five-star safety from Tennessee who chose the Buckeyes over the in-state Volunteers. The team also grabbed an Oregon recruit in running back Ezekiel Elliott, who should be able to help Braxton Miller in the offense.
