Arsenal Transfer Rumours: Edinson Cavani Does Not Rule Out Emirates Switch in the Summer

One of the most outrageous and biggest names that Arsenal were linked with during the January transfer window was Edinson Cavani, and the Napoli forward kept his cards close to his chest but did not rule out a move in the future.

Arsene Wenger admitted in one of his press conferences his admiration for the Uruguay international, who has set the Serie A on fire ever since joining Napoli from Palermo in 2010.

Cavani is one of the most coveted strikers in the world, with the likes of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain expected to make a move in the summer.

The 25-year-old has a buyout clause of around £50 million ($79 million), which would immediately rule out any chances of an Arsenal move.

However, the Gunners are in rude health when it comes to their finances and with well over £50 million in reserve, to go along with the Emirates sponsorship money which will kick in at the end of the season, a bid cannot be entirely ruled out.

Cavani said he was not keeping tabs on interest from other clubs, and was keeping his focus on the current season with Napoli as the club look to usurp Juventus for the Serie A title.

"Arsenal? I didn't follow anything personally, I discover now," he said. "Now in Naples, along with my teammates, we try to give a dream to the people.

"My future? I have four years of my contract but in football you never know where you end up and what to expect. But I think only of the present and work to get better."

Arsenal are thought to be the frontrunners for the signature of David Villa, who they failed to sign in the winter window, in the summer; however, if a move for the Barcelona striker fails to materialize, Arsene Wenger might just dip into that transfer budget for once and pull off a move that Arsenal fans have been craving for a while.
