Winter X Games 2013 continues on ESPN live with the America's Navy Snowboard Big Air Final and Ski SuperPipe Final Medal Race.
In the Ski SuperPipe competition, last years winner David Wise is the favorite after taking the top spot in qualifying on Thursday. Wise hit a leftside double cork 1260 mute and put up a 92.00 in his second run.
After finishing his event, Wise tweeted out: "Ended up first today in #XGames #elimination. Stoked to drop in last for the big show tomorrow!"
Wise is among many other big names competing, including Torin Yater-Wallace, the 17-year-old who brought home the silver medal in 2011 and the bronze at last years event. In the first go around he put up a 90.00 and has a chance to overtake Wise in the final race. Other possible winners include Joffrey Pollet-Villard of France, who showed off some high-flying skills in the SuperPipe elimination.
The other night event includes the America's Navy Snowboard Big Air Final. The race has some international flavor with Canada's Mark McMorris, who topped the Men's Snowboard Slopestyle qualifier on Thursday.
Friday also had the first event for the girls at the X Games with the Women's Ski SuperPipe Final with Roz Groenewoud will battle Brita Sigourney competing. There was a scare on the course on Thursday night when Caleb Moore suffered a serious injury in the Snowmobile Freestyle finals. After coming up short on a back flip, his sled came over on top of him and knocked him unconscious.
He was checked out for a concussion and had surgery for a heart contusion on Friday morning. His brother Colten was also injured after separating his pelvis, but his injuries did not require surgery.
Saturday's events include the Men's Snowboard Slopestyle Final medal race as well as the Women's Snowboard Slopestyle Final and the Snowmobile Speed and Style Final. Saturday night includes the Ski Big Air Final and the Women's Snowboard SuperPipe Final medal rave.
