For the first time in the offseason, the rumors have it that the Atlanta Braves have officially made an offer to the Arizona Diamondbacks for Justin Upton.

Following up this tweet, Rosenthal mentioned the following.

If true, the Braves offseason shopping will have been completed. Upton gives them the right-handed bat the team was seeking, which will balance out their left-handed heavy lineup. Not only does he hit from the right side, Upton hits for power and average, which will help balance the strikeout happy lineup.

Also, he fills their need in left field, which will allow Martin Prado to be the everyday third baseman.

Many in Arizona believe Upton needs a change of scenery. He has his up and down years and has yet to consistently place great numbers in back-to-back seasons..

Jon Heyman is one who believes a change to Atlanta will do the outfielder a solid, especially if he gets to play alongside brother B.J. Upton who the Braves in December.

Brother Upton is apparently excited as well asking the media not to play with his feelings after these rumors quickly swirled.

Well B.J., according to Heyman, of CBSSports.com, the Braves have offered a strong package for the 25-year-old. The Braves are loaded with pitching talent and they have some position players in their system that can be major-league ready in no time.
