Chicken Wings Shortage

Well this is horrible for most Super Bowl fans trying to get their menu ready for the big game. A chicken wing shortage has been announced. 12.3 million less wings will be available for this Super Bowl. In 2012, 1.23 billions were consumed by fans and this year this number will take a hit.

According to Yahoo!, the shortage is due to the rising cost of corn and feed for the chickens. Higher prices means less food for the chickens in farms and ultimate this equates to a smaller number of chickens raised.

The Super Bowl, as much as it's about the football game, is also about spending time with loved ones and devouring whatever dishes are prepared. What's the point of watching the game on an empty stomach? That really doesn't help much. Beer and alcohol are excellent for the occasion, but there's no Super Bowl holiday the next day and many of us have to go to work.

So let's work our way around this chicken wing shortage and find other entertaining items to much on as we watch the game.

JUICY LUCY

It's two burger patties stuffed with cheese. Mmmm....mmmm....mmmm. Think about it. You buy a couple of burgers and don't have to worry about making 1,000 wings for your party.

As your guests to bring buns and salad and you purchase the meat. Two of these will surely stuff you at least until the second half.

TACOS

Hey, doesn't matter if you aren't from South America. These are fun to eat and you can have a couple as the game is going on. Don't like chicken, prepare some beef. Not a fan of beef? Then prepare your guests some pork.

The beauty about making tacos is that you can personalize your recipe to your liking. Prepare trays of vegetables and condiments on the side and let people work their magic. Tacos allow guests to be flexible and relieves them of stressing over picky eaters.

Munchies
So you really don't want to stress anything on Super Bowl Sunday and don't want to prepare anything heavy. Run to the deli and stash up on the junk food.

The ultimate finger food. Bags of chips, donuts, cookies and some soda to gulp it down. It might sound a bit childish, but hey, there's nothing like watching some football and leaving Cheetoh fingerprints all over the remote.

Order Out
This is probably the best option for those who don't want to clean too much and worry about the mess left in the kitchen after the guests are gone. Call up your local pizzeria or fast food joint and tell them what you want.

Of course, have a meal as you're ordering because that day you might be waiting on your delivery boy for a long time.

Not pleased with this menu?

What's the ultimate way to work around the chicken wing shortage? Go and buy all your chicken wings now!
