With a disappointing season already in the works the once forgotten "Dwightmare" trade rumors are given new life as rumors continue to swirl around Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard.

The Lakers are now 17-24 and the super team the formulated during the off-season is playing way below what was expected of them. After a 1-4 start to their season came the firing of coach Mike Brown, who was later replaced with Mike D'Antoni.

Under D'Antoni the team has struggled to learn the offense, with forward Pau Gasol struggling the most, eventually losing his starting position.

Meanwhile, Howard, who came to the Lakers after a long summer of rumors, has also struggled with his new team and is currently rumored to not be happy about the amount of touches he's getting.

Howard being not happy is reminiscent to how he felt in Orlando with Magic. All we need now is for the Brooklyn Nets to start to make a move on Howard again and it'll almost be like the "Dwightmare" of the off-season never left.

But wait, are the Nets making another push for Howard?

Supposedly the feeling in Brooklyn is that a move for Howard can be made for the right price given the Lakers struggles and long-term commitment to a collection of pieces that just don't seem to fit or compliment Howard's skills.

According to sources, Nets General Manager Billy King was planning to contact the Minnesota Timberwolves in order to gauge their interest in a three-team trade that would send Kevin Love to the Lakers, Brook Lopez to the Timberwolves and Dwight Howard to the Nets.

However, the problem with that plan is that Love is out until March and the Nets aren't sure how interested the Lakers would be in acquiring an injured Love.

As of now it's not known whether the Lakers are even willing to give up Howard, but if he's not happy now, can the team expect him to sign an extension when he becomes a free agent this summer?

The idea is for the Lakers to come out with something in the event that Howard screws them over in the summer, so maybe it's just best to let Howard go now instead of possibly being sorry later.
