Liverpool have already sealed the signing of Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea, but the Anfield club are now being linked with a move for Moussa Sow of Fenerbahce.

The 26-year-old striker has been the subject of a £10 million ($16 million) bid by Liverpool, as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to further strengthen his forward line.

Liverpool are also closely monitoring Kevin Gameiro of Paris Saint Germain, but have not made any headway over a move, prompting the English Premier League club to look at other options, with Sow heading that list, while Thomas Ince is also closing in on a move from Blackpool.

The Senegalese international is not exactly prolific, but has the potential to find the net with decent regularity, and if Liverpool were to complete a move, it would give Rodgers another option to tinker with his lineup up front, and further release the burden on Luis Suarez.

Meanwhile, Rodgers has stressed the importance of looking at players from the local setup rather than pluck starlets from Spain or other major European countries.

"My big thing is getting in young players in here from the local area, here in Liverpool, from Liverpool," Rodgers told the club's official website.

"If you look at the history here -- the Carragher, the Gerrard, the McManaman, the Fowler, the Owen -- and you name me the best two players in England in the last six or seven years?

"Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney -- they're Scousers. One is from that part of the city and the other from that part. So you are not telling me there are not top young talents in Liverpool.

"It is sexy to look in Spain and I am one who loves working with European players and I love working with the talents and all my life I have worked with players from different parts of the world.

"But we mustn't forget what is on our doorstep and, for me, this is a hotbed for footballers who have a passion, hunger and incredible qualities. That is a massive part of my job and something we are trying to put in place."
