Despite reports to the contrary, Arsenal have not had any contact with Yann M'Vila over a move in January, according to the player's agent.

M'Vila has been linked with Arsenal for quite a while now, and would have been a part of the Gunners squad already had it not been for his disciplinary problems.

However, Arsene Wenger has decided to look for other defensive midfield options, after being put off by M'Vila's off field issues, which has led to the 22-year-old being banned from playing for France until June 2014.

M'Vila recently admitted he would like to make a move to the English Premier League, with Queens Park Rangers the only club really showing any concrete interest - QPR reportedly had a £6.5 million ($10.5 million) bid turned down Rennes.

However, even if a bigger offer was to be accepted, M'Vila would not be ready to move to Loftus Road, with a different club in London his first preference.

Despite all the links, M'Vila's agent Tim Hager admitted there had been no contact from the Gunners. "There is interest from a lot of clubs," Hager told goal.com. "Yann has a good contract at Rennes -- it is possible that we can stay there and be patient.

"Every transfer window we are asked about Arsenal because of what the newspapers say, but I have not spoken to them about Yann."

Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking to bring in a defensive midfield target with Anderlecht's Lucas Biglia being closely monitored after the Argentine international admitted he was ready to find a new club in the January transfer window.

While M'Vila has always been the first name when it has come to screening midfielders, Arsenal have also been closely linked with a move for Biglia.

The 26-year-old would add that extra steel to Arsenal's midfield, which has been lacking at times, with Mikel Arteta, despite doing an admirable job, not really capable of bossing the middle of the park with his strength, power and pace.

M'Vila, no doubt is a more talented player than Biglia; the Frenchman has bags of technical ability and is extremely good at reading the game. The only aspect will be whether Wenger is ready to take a risk on the youngster, even though his transfer value has come down considerably.
