Maybe it was a sign when Robert Griffin III left to a small room on the sidelines with Dr. James Andrews as concerns about a reoccurring knee injury arose during the first quarter. RG3 went down later in the game and was unable to get up after re-injuring his knee on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks in their NFC Wild Card game.

Not only was RG3 out of the game, but the Redskins' hopes of winning were buried as well.

Here is the video. There is no need in trying to explain what happened. It's painful regardless. Scroll to 1:54 where the play of the injury begins.

Now, according to Dr. Andrews, who's an orthopaedic and famous for the Tommy John procedure, he never liked the idea of RG3 being out there on the field playing.

"I'm the one that shut him down that day, finally," Andrews told USA Today on Saturday. "I've been a nervous wreck letting him come back as quick as he has. He's doing a lot better this week, but he's still recovering, and I'm holding my breath because of it."

Dr. Andrews is referring to the knee injury suffered against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14.

Well, the Seahawks wasted no time in trying to get RG3 off the field for good. They were getting in his face and pushing him around all game long.

Dr. Andrews' feelings almost became a premonition of events that would taking place later on. RG3's right knee completely gave out and will now have to go under the knife.

Is it possible that we saw RG3's best season and that his NFL career will forever change?

If the Redskins don't take more precautions then the answer is yes. We all have seen how miserably Michael Vick has been in the NFL. He hasn't had a terrible career, but his ability to scramble out of the pocket is counterproductive since defensive players are unforgiven and hit the daylights out of quarterbacks.

RG3 suffered a concussion earlier in the season against the Atlanta Falcons while scrambling and playing aggressive football. Griffin III has to change the way he plays even if it means throwing the ball more.

He will save his legs and knees, plus protect himself from tacklers in the open field.

It's that simple. Continue playing in the same dangerous manner and RG3 could see another season ending sooner than expected.
