Radamel Falcao is likely to be the most sought-after player in the summer transfer window, and if the Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo is to be believed, it is going to be an open battle.

A report in Punto Pelota suggested Falcao had already come to an agreement with Real Madrid to make a cross town switch in the summer, leaving the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City with little chance of getting their man.

According to the report, Cerezo, while chatting with a member of Celta Vigo on Falcao's future, said: "Falcao has had something signed with Real Madrid for some time."

However, Cerezo insisted there was not such deal in place, while saying he had not talked to a single club over Falcao's transfer as yet.

"I want to say that it is false that Falcao has an agreement with another team," Cerezo was quoted as saying by Marca. "I say it is false because I have (not) spoken to anyone regarding this subject.

"It is absolutely false and a lie. It is one thing to joke but it is another to make something out of nothing. Above everything, I don't like having words put in my mouth that I have never said.

"Like (club general manager) Miguel Angel Gil said, Falcao is our player and he has won the right to make his own decision. He has a contract with us and there is no need to talk nor invent anything else.

"It seems that some want to destabilise Atletico and Falcao. The day that something does occur, if that day happens at all which I doubt, then there will be something to talk about. But, there is no need to talk of just rumours."

Chelsea are on the verge of completing the signing of Demba Ba from Newcastle, but that is not expected to stop Roman Abramovich from making a pitch for Falcao in the summer.
