The Brooklyn Nets have relieved Avery Johnson of his coaching duties, as announced by general manager Billy King on Thursday.

Johnson, who was in the final year of his contract, was named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for October and November following an 11-4 start. But the Nets have won just three of their last 13 games in December, prompting the team to go in another direction.

The Nets, at 14-14, currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the East.

Now with Johnson gone, P.J. Carlesimo has been named the interim coach.

As the team searches for their new coach, maybe it wouldn't be that bad of an idea to pursue the "Zen Master" Phil Jackson.

Imagine the triangle offense being implemented with the talent the Nets' now currently have in their starting lineup. You already have the basic pieces with Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez in the middle, but add in the gritty play of Gerald Wallace and the rebounding capability of Kris Humphries, it's hard to see it not working in Brooklyn.

The only issue would be trying to convince Jackson to come back to the eastern conference, but that shouldn't be too difficult.

The Nets have the luxury of now being a big market team being that they're in New York.

Also with the winning attitude of Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov, and the big bucks he's proven he's willing to spend, a Jackson to Brooklyn campaign may not be too farfetched.

Jackson can conceivable rack up big time in terms of endorsements, especially if can make the Nets a legit threat in the eastern conference. And being that he was snubbed by the Los Angeles Lakers for their coaching job before hiring Mike D'Antoni, imagine how satisfying it'll be for him to have the less talented Nets finish stronger than his former team.

Just let the idea marinate in your minds for a second.

Jackson is an 11-time NBA champion, the Nets have enough money in the bank to pay the man, he'll be returning to another big market team and he already has the players set to succeed.

Jackson to Brooklyn, why not?
