After having one of the worst performances by a quarterback in Monday Night Football history, New York Jets' Mark Sanchez's future under center is beginning to look real bleak.
Sanchez, who suffered one of the worst games of his career, tied a career high with five turnovers, including four interceptions. He only completed 13 of 28 passes for 131 yards in a crushing 14-10 road loss to the Tennessee Titans that all be squandered the Jets' playoffs hopes.
"I'm not ready to say who will be at quarterback for the next game," coach Rex Ryan said Monday night.
Just three weeks ago, Ryan pulled Sanchez from the third quarter of an eventual win over the Arizona Cardinals, giving third-string quarterback Greg McElroy the opportunity to rally the team to a 7-6 victory. After pulling out the win, McElroy was thought to be under consideration for the starting job, but that wasn't in the cards for the young QB.
Ryan instead ended up sticking with Sanchez, dropping McElroy behing Tim Tebow, who returned to the active roster after sitting out the previous game with sore ribs.
Now that the Jets (6-8) are officially eliminated from playoff contention, Ryan may be more apt to go with either Tebow or McElroy.
With that being said, so long Sanchez.
