Los Angeles Lakers News 2012: Kobe Bryant Reaches Out To Magic Johnson For Advice To Teams Problems

Dec 14, 2012 01:20 PM EST

With the Los Angeles Lakers now dropping five of their last six games, with a 116-107 loss Thursday night to the New York Knicks, Kobe Bryant took time out in the midst of his day off to call Magic Johnson to talk about the team, according to ESPN.

"We just talked about some of the experiences he went through and some of the systematic changes that he had to go through after Kareem (Abdul-Jabbar) retired and how he kind of managed through that and how he dealt with that," Bryant said after the Lakers shootaround in preparation for their game against the New York Knicks on Thursday. "It was very helpful."

Bryant wouldn't reveal the particulars of his conversation with Johnson, but after Tuesday's 100-94 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Bryant said that the great part about being a Laker is having all the former greats on the team to lean on for advice.

"The advice I get from Magic, Michael and those guys, that's always sacred," Bryant said. "That's going to the mountain top and talking to Buddha, know what I mean? That's privileged information."

Johnson recently expressed his opinions on the Lakers recent woes, stating that he believes coach Mike D'Antoni needs to address his offensive scheme and find ways to utilize tow-time NBA champion Pau Gasol more effectively.
