It is being reported that the Cleveland Browns are showing some interest in Denver Broncos backup (for now) quarterback Brock Osweiler.

However, Osweiler will be a free agent in a few short weeks if the Broncos cannot get a deal in place. Osweiler if he ever hits free agency would draw a ton of attention. He had a solid 2015 and helped Denver keep pace in the playoff race while Peyton Manning was injured. He has shown an ability to throw a strong and accurate deep ball at times and his play overall has been fairly consistent.

There are a ton of quarterback needy teams in the NFL most notably the Browns, Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, and quite possibly the Miami Dolphins if things do not turn around for Ryan Tannehill. This could factor into Osweiler's decision into whether or not he stays with the Broncos; let's not forget he was benched for an ineffective Peyton Manning.

The Broncos went on to win the Super Bowl and Manning will likely retire which will force the Broncos to pay big money to Osweiler if they hope to keep him. Another possibility is that Osweiler gets tagged however this will only happen if the Broncos resign Von Miller to a long term extension and it seems as if both sides are incredibly far apart on negotiations. Miller's next contract will be in the $100 million plus range so the Broncos will have little money to get into a bidding war for Osweiler's services.

The Cleveland Browns could be willing to swap first round picks and possibly a few additional later round picks in order to grab Osweiler. In theory this trade would work as the Broncos get to select a new franchise quarterback for what will be a new era in Denver football.

Hue Jackson might shy away from an unknown commodity and look to win this season instead of developing a quarterback for a couple of years. The Browns will have a ton of offers for the number 2 overall pick, they would be wise to consider all of their options heading into 2016.
