With the Minnesota Vikings finally earning a playoff berth this season, it is likely that they are on the right track as this team boasts a young, tough defense that is very reminiscent of some of the better defenses in the last couple of years.

The Vikings main problem stems from a lack of offensive potency and firepower. The Vikings currently have $23 million in cap space, now whether that is enough to bring on a game changing offensive weapon is anyone's guess.

The Vikings can free up some cap space by cutting Mike Wallace as his $11,500,000 cap hit is completely unwarranted. Wallace has declined drastically since he began to play for the Vikings and they would do themselves a big service by release the ineffective wide receiver. The Vikings are selecting too late in the NFL draft to come away with the number 1 wide receiver overall.

This offseason essentially there is only 1 dominant wide receiver possibly on the cusp of leaving their team for greener pastures and that is Alshon Jeffery. The Bears will try to do all they can to keep him sure, but after a couple of seasons of mediocrity how could he not pass up a chance to win or at least compete for a Super Bowl with a consistent contender such as the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs, or even the Minnesota Vikings.

A Bridgewater to Jeffery connection would be electric however the more likely scenario could be the Vikings grab a couple of key number 2 wide receivers such as Rishard Matthews, Kamar Aiken, Marvin Jones, or Jermaine Kearse. Whatever the Vikings decide they must upgrade this offense in some fashion or else they will come up short of a championship for another season.
