The New Orleans Saints will need to do a ton of work to get back to the level of Super Bowl contenders; even so they will need to overhaul their cap situation as they currently have little to no room to make any type of moves this free agency period.

Jarius Byrd has been a weight on the Saints cap space for some time and this may finally be the season they can figure something out a solution to his ridiculous cap hit. Byrd is slated to count $10,900,000 against the cap and his huge cap number makes it impossible for the Saints to negotiate around it.

In 2015 Byrd started in 12 games and played in 13, he recorded 53 combined tackles, a sack, interception, a forced fumble, and 3 pass defenses. In his career he has amassed 431 combined tackles, 4 sacks, 38 pass defenses, 23 interceptions, 13 forced fumbles, and 2 defensive touchdowns.

The Saints need to rebuild their secondary and add some key pieces to this defense so they can stop opposing offenses. The Saints allowed the most points in the NFL last season and that is going to have to change if they hope to get back into the playoff conversation.
