NFL News: Patriots LB Darius Fleming Saves Woman From a Burning Car

Jan 20, 2016 03:40 PM EST

The New England Patriots have a true American Patriot in their midst these days as Darius Fleming apparently works as a superhero on his off days. Fleming saved a woman's life just a mere 2 days prior to the divisional showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fleming kicked in her window to help her escape a burning car.

His actions resulted in 22 stitches from a leg wound he suffered while breaking the window however he still found a way to play in the Patriots playoff game 2 days later. Fleming apparently had to kick the window three times before it gave way but if there is one thing we know Fleming can handle, it is pressure..

Fleming was apparently driving on route 1 near Gillette Stadium on Thursday night when he saw a 3 car wreck on the roadway. He immediately jumped into action after seeing the smoke and woman trapped inside.

This type of heroism is rare in this day and age especially coming from a professional athlete. Fleming put his body and career potentially on the line to save the life of a complete stranger, how many of us would do this? Fleming's unbelievable actions led the Patriots to celebrate his heroism as they forced him to give a locker room speech on the situation.

Fleming would go on record 2 combined tackles, and 26 snaps in the game against Kansas City.
