NFL Rumors: Could the Cleveland Browns Be The Next Destination For Colin Kaepernick?

Jan 14, 2016 03:37 PM EST

With Hue Jackson heading to Cleveland, the Browns are in for a dynamic overhaul. First thing on the agenda, finding a brand new quarterback and Jackson is interested in Colin Kaepernick.

Jackson as the head coach of the Raiders was very interested in Colin Kaepernick and considered him to be the best quarterback in a draft that had Cam Newton as the number 1 overall pick. It is clear that Jackson has been briefed on the quarterback situation and Johnny Manziel before he even took this job.

Landing Kaepernick would give the Browns some wiggle room at quarterback but not a lot and it is rare that a team with such a high pick would put their stock into a brand new franchise quarterback. But the Browns are in a very competitive division and they have a lot of holes, such a high draft pick could go a long way to filling a major position of need.

Kaepernick has had a couple of surgeries in the last few months so his health is a question but he should be ready to play by the time the 2016 preseason rolls around. Kaepernick would most likely seek to have a fresh start somewhere new especially a place where he would not be benched for Blaine Gabbert.
