The Dallas Cowboys have a top five draft pick for 2016 and some potential targets for Jerry Jones may include Jared Goff, Joey Bosa, Paxton Lynch, Laquon Treadwell and Ezekiel Elliott. The Cowboys could be interested in finding a backup/future replacement for Tony Romo after the quarterback missed significant time with injuries this season.

The Cowboys went 4-12 this year with Romo and Dez Bryant banged up for most of the season and that slots them into the top five of the 2016 NFL draft. The team picks after the Titans, Browns and Chargers this year and that could put the Cowboys in position to take a quarterback if they want to. The Titans have Marcus Mariota and the Chargers may wait before taking a future successor for Philip Rivers, leaving the Browns and Cowboys as teams that could potentially take QBs in the top five.

The Cowboys season basically hinged on the play of the backup quarterback and the players behind Romo did not perform well overall. Brandon Weeden, Matt Cassel and Kellen Moore all struggled at times and that could spark Jerry Jones to draft a QB. The team also could potentially go after a current NFL quarterback with a trade or free agency, as Jones said to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he is willing to take a "risk" on the position. Pro Football Talk speculates that Johnny Manziel or Robert Griffin III could be one of those risk options.

Jones said to the media towards the end of the season that the team has to take advantage of having a high draft pick this year and that could lead the Cowboys to a quarterback. According to CBS Sports, Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch are considered to be the top quarterback prospects in the draft this year. Goff potentially could go to the Browns, but if the team passes on him, the Cowboys may see that as too good of an opportunity to pass up. Goff is coming off of a strong season with 43 touchdown passes and many scouts see him as a "can't miss" prospect.

Tony Romo said to Todd Archer at ESPN that he has no problems with the Cowboys drafting a quarterback this year. Jones also could consider other positions on offense, including running back and wide receiver. Dez Bryant played in only nine games after having foot surgery and a player like Laquon Treadwell could be tempting after the big season he just had for Ole Miss. Treadwell finished with 82 catches for 1153 yards and 11 touchdowns and he is considered to be one of the top offensive players in the draft. Ezekiel Elliott also could be a target, but he is considered to be more of a mid-round pick.

Joey Bosa has been getting attention on the defensive side of the ball and scouts see him as the top player on defense in this draft. With Greg Hardy potentially gone after one season, the Cowboys could consider taking Bosa even after drafting Randy Gregory last year.
