2016 Draft Needs New York Giants: Taylor Decker, Jack Conklin, Shaq Lawson, Ezekiel Elliott Draft Targets After Tom Coughlin Gone?

The New York Giants had an absolutely heartbreaking season.

First they lost Jason Pierre Paul to a freakish fireworks accident, then they lost Victor Cruz to various injuries, then they lost control of the NFC East, then they lost the NFC East, then they lost Tom Coughlin.

Now as the Giants attempt to rebuild they may need to do so without one of their best cornerbacks, Prince Amukamara who is scheduled to hit free agency. They may also be missing Jason Pierre Paul as it is not known whether or not the Giants will resign him after his accident. The Giants have a couple of needs but it is clear their biggest is defensive end. Last season they got no pressure on opposing quarterbacks and that led to so many fourth quarter defensive meltdowns.

With the Giants picking 10th overall in the draft there should only be a few defensive ends left with a first round grade. The two guys who make sense here would be Emmanuel Ogbah or Jonathan Allen both of whom would make great building blocks to help rebuild the pass rush.

They could also bet on any of the free agent defensive ends such as former New York Jet Muhammad Wilkerson, Olivier Vernon, also the Cowboys could release Greg Hardy and the Gmen should be desperate for all the help they can find. The Giants could also use a quality RB so Ezekiel Elliott would make sense here even though it seems a bit low for him. The Giants would likely wait until the 2nd or 3rd round for a running back such as Derrick Henry or Alex Collins.

The Giants could also be better off bringing in a free agent such as Chris Ivory, Matt Forte, or Doug Martin if he is available. After taking offensive linemen in the draft last year, this season should be no different and at least one of the highest graded offensive linemen will be on the board. It is likely the Giants will either choose between Taylor Decker or Jack Conklin. With no solid safeties in the 2016 draft with a first round grade the Giants should pursue Eric Weddle or Tashaun Gipson.

The Giants have no room for error as they try to restart this franchise after a rough season.
