Denver Broncos News: Peyton Manning Replaces Brock Osweiler in Regular Season Finale Against San Diego Chargers

Jan 04, 2016 10:32 AM EST

The Denver Broncos found themselves in quite the battle as they fought off an aggressive San Diego Chargers team to win the top spot in the AFC and to gain home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Broncos finished the game with a different quarterback than they started with as Peyton Manning came in for the mistake prone Brock Osweiler.

The Broncos offense committed five turnovers with Osweiler under center against one of the worst defenses in the league. Osweiler was responsible for two interceptions as he seemingly felt the pressure of becoming the Broncos starting quarterback.

With the playoffs so close it is a curious and precarious situation the Broncos find themselves in as they now need to decide whether or not to switch quarterbacks when they enter the playoffs. Manning struggled all season but was reportedly injured for a large portion of that time.

With Manning finally healthy the Broncos may choose to utilize the quarterback with the bigger body of experience in the playoffs. Just the presence of Manning on the field seemed to spark the Broncos offense as the running game immediately saw improvement.

Manning being able to utilize his experience as well as his high football IQ immediately paid dividends for the Broncos offense as they scored the game sealing touchdown. Whether or not Kubiak chooses to go with Manning over Osweiler will likely depend on who has the hot hand come game time.
