NFL News: AFC Playoff Seeds Locked In After Week 17 with Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs, Texans

With the regular season of the NFL over the final playoff seeds have been decided. In the AFC the Denver Broncos will take the number one seed as they defeated the San Diego Chargers 27-20.

The Broncos had their share of adversity in this game as they benched Brock Osweiler for the more seasoned Peyton Manning. The Broncos were in a great position to take home field advantage throughout the playoffs as New England Patriots lost to the Miami Dolphins earlier in the day.

The Patriots will come into the playoffs as the number 2 seed with the Cincinnati Bengals following right behind at number 3. The Bengals had virtually wrapped up their division as the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns suffered season ending injuries and ineffective play calling leaving them at the bottom of the NFL.

The Pittsburgh Steelers after losing Le'Veon Bell for the season just hung on long enough to squeak into the playoffs as the 6th seed. Following the Bengals are the Houston Texans at number 4 who won their division this week after the Colts failed to see fate fall their way and were eventually eliminated from the playoffs. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans trailed behind the Texans for most of the second half of the season after coming off tremendously promising starts.

Finally coming in at the 5th seed are the Kansas City Chiefs who despite losing their division to the Denver Broncos boast an 11 and 5 record, better than most of the AFC wildcard teams. With the playoffs about to begin it appears as if any of these playoff contenders could come away with the AFC Championship.
