Atlanta Falcons News and Rumors: Tevin Coleman Suffers Concussion, Devonta Freeman Main Starter Week 16

Dec 24, 2015 06:49 PM EST

The Atlanta Falcons continue to suffer some tremendously bad luck as their rookie running back Tevin Coleman is reportedly in the NFL's concussion protocol.

Coleman apparently slipped in the shower which caused the head injury however the Falcons cannot afford to lose any members of their offense if you consider their recent struggles. Devonta Freeman has been a spark plug for the Falcons in 2015 however he has slowed down towards the end of the season which has caused quite a bit of turmoil for the Falcons offense.

This is the first time an NFL player has ever been put into the concussion protocol for slipping in a shower however for the struggling Falcons this is a first they would have liked to avoid. The injuries to both Coleman and Freeman throughout the season sent the offense into a tailspin that they are only recently recovering from. Coleman was expected to start at the beginning of the season however several broken ribs held him out long enough to allow Devonta Freeman to run away (literally) with the starting job.

Freeman suffered injuries himself allowing Coleman to have a few chances however he has struggled with fumbles and running behind a somewhat porous offensive line. If Coleman is indeed out for week 16 it will be a significant blow to this Falcons offense.
