Seattle Seahawks Rumors and News: Thomas Rawls Out For The Season, Fred Jackson Starter Option Until Marshawn Lynch Returns?

Dec 14, 2015 11:56 AM EST

The Seattle Seahawks suffered a crushing blow this Sunday during their game with the Baltimore Ravens when they lost their primary backup running back Thomas Rawls to a broken ankle along with several torn ligaments.

Rawls was somber as he walked towards the locker room waving to the crowd possibly for the last time this season. Rawls came in for the injured Marshawn Lynch and proved to be a valuable asset to the Seahawks run game. Rawls has been explosive this season recording 830 yards, 4 touchdowns, and is averaging 5.6 yards a carry.

The Seahawks will now have to rely on DuJuan Harris and Fred Jackson who also had his fair share of injury issues this season if Marshawn Lynch cannot return by week 15. Harris had 18 carries for 42 yards and a fumble in the red zone that could cost him his chance to start if Lynch cannot play.

The Seahawks may end up signing a free agent running back to help carry the load until Lynch returns. It is likely this running game becomes a committee were the combination of DuJuan Harris, Fred Jackson, and fullback Derrick Coleman will look to carry the load for this offense.
