NY Jets Rumors: Darrelle Revis Injury Makes Dee Milliner Starter? Antonio Cromartie, Buster Skrine Favored as Release Option with Sheldon Richardson?

Dee Milliner's seat is hot, very hot. The cornerback has simply not turned out to be the shutdown threat the New York Jets thought they were getting when they drafted him in the first round. Now in his third year with the team, things are not progressing as Milliner remains at the bottom of the depth chart upon his return from injury. Will the other injuries piling up help him get on the field?

According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, Darrelle Revis is not expected to be on the field come Sunday when the Jets face off against the New York Giants. The cornerback has been dealing with a concussion and has yet to practice. While head coach Todd Bowles told the media that the veteran is progressing, he is still not looking like he can get on the field on come Sunday leaving someone else to cover Odell Beckham Jr.

The Jets could be in serious trouble in the secondary. Backup cornerback Marcus Williams will not be available either in Week 13. The cornerback suffered an MCL sprain in the game against the Miami Dolphins filling in for Revis. If both cornerbacks are not available, does that mean Milliner gets assigned Beckham?

The cornerback has yet to play a snap this season on defense. His season started off with wrist surgery that landed him on injured reserve. This is another injury that has plagued his career and even though he is active, the Jets have not put him on defense yet this season. According to Bowles, he has not shown enough yet.

"We've got to see it on the field," Bowles said, via ESPN.com. "He's hustling. He's getting the rust off. Other guys have been playing since the spring, and they've been playing summer. So it's competitive. You're not just going to put a guy in there. He's practiced well. But the other guys have practiced well, as well."

According to Cimini, the Jets seem more likely to turn to Darrin Walls for help while putting Antonio Cromartie on Beckham and shifting Buster Skrine to the outside. That would leave Milliner on the outside looking in with a trade or release likely in his future. Milliner could be out alongside Sheldon Richardson this offseason who is being replaced by Muhammad Wilkerson and Leonard Williams. Both players were expected to be stars for the Jets and for one reason or another they have both had issues that have left them in bad standing with the franchise.
