The NBA season is heading towards December and the Golden State Warriors remain undefeated and they are the best team in the league. The Cavaliers have the best record in the eastern conference, while Stephen Curry is playing at an MVP level for the Warriors.

The Philadelphia 76ers are winless this season, while rookies like Kristaps Porzingis, Jahlil Okafor and Karl-Anthony Towns have been very impressive. The Knicks have started the season playing above expectations despite losing three in a row, as they have eight wins now and did not get to number six until January last season.

Here is a look at 5 things to know heading into December:

The Warriors could be undefeated for a while

Golden State comes in at 167-0 on the season after wins over the Lakers and Suns and the team has a pretty soft schedule moving forward. The Warriors won the title last season and have not been satisfied with that, as they have played better than anyone in the NBA. The team is about to embark on a long road trip to the east, but they have the chance to stay undefeated throughout the month of December. Depending on how things go, the team could be undefeated leading into the game against the Cavaliers on Christmas.

Cleveland Cavaliers best in the East

The Cavaliers are set up to make another finals run this season and while they have dealt with injuries, the Cavs are the best team in the east. The team has a 12-4 record and they are leading the Pacers, Heat and Bulls in the standings. LeBron James is continuing to play at an amazingly high level and the Cavs should be even better once Kyrie Irving, Iman Shumpert and Timofey Mozgov get healthy.

Stephen Curry is playing like an MVP....again

Stephen Curry is one of the main reasons why the Warriors remain undefeated and he is once again playing at an MVP level. Curry is averaging 32 points, 5.9 assists and 5.1 rebounds this season. Curry has had two 40-point games over the last five and he is shooting at a high rate with a 51 percent shooting percentage overall and he is connecting on 43 percent of his threes.

Kristaps Porzingis, Karl-Anthony Towns top rookie players

Kristaps Porzingis has quickly become a fan favorite for the Knicks, while Karl-Anthony Towns has played like a number one overall pick. Porzingis is averaging 13.4 points and 9.1 rebounds, while Tows is putting up 14.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Jahlil Okafor has played well and those three are the top options for rookie of the year this season.

76ers winless at 0-17

The Sixers have now lost 17 straight games to open the season and they have been the worst team in the NBA. The Sixers have the Grizzlies next and that could be another loss for the team.
