MLB Awards 2015: Carlos Correa, Kris Bryant Win Rookie of the Year In AL and NL Over Francisco Lindor, Matt Duffy

The Rookie of the Year awards for the 2015 MLB season have been handed out with Kris Bryant and Carlos Correa being named as the top first-year players in the National League and the American League. Correa of the Houston Astros finished first over Francisco Lindor, while Bryant of the Chicago Cubs won over Matt Duffy.

According to MLB.com, Bryant won the NL Rookie of the Year award with a unanimous vote after coming in as the overall favorite. Bryant helped the Cubs make it to the playoffs this season and he ended up getting all 30 first-place votes. Correa won the award in the AL over Lindor and he received 17 first place votes, while Lindor had 13. Miguel Sano also was nominated in the American League, while Jung Ho Kang was the third finalist in the National League.

Coming into the season Bryant was considered by many in the media to be the top prospect that would get called up this season and he followed through on that hye. Bryant hit .275 with 26 home runs, 31 doubles, 99 RBI and had 87 runs scored for the Cubs. According to Hardball Talk, Bryant is the 20th player to win the rookie of the year award with a unanimous vote.

Correa was called up in June and also helped lead his team to the playoffs with the Astros going to the postseason for the first time in years. Correa hit .279 with 22 home runs, 68 RBI and 22 doubles for Houston and he also played strong defense at shortstop. Lindor had a strong season with a .313 batting average, 12 home runs and 51 RBI in 99 games.
