Jon Walters #14 of the Republic of Ireland celebrates after scoring the opening goal from the penalty spot during the UEFA EURO 2016 Qualifier play off, second leg match between Republic of Ireland and Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Aviva Stadium on November 16, 2015 in Dublin, Ireland. "

The Republic of Ireland has qualified for the Euro 2016 tournament in France with a play-off second leg victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina. Ireland advanced on aggregate 3-1 after the 2-0 victory and the team now qualifies to join Northern Ireland, England and Wales in the draw.

Jon Walters scored two goals for Ireland, including on a penalty that put the team up 2-1 on aggregate and that put the team in position to close things out. Walters added his second goal late in the match and now the team is into Euro 2016. The penalty in the match was considered a bit controversial, as the BBC reports that it "looked more a case of ball to hand" on Ervin Zukanovic and that he could not avoid the contact.

Ireland pulled out the victory to make it into the tournament after a tough run to start last year against Germany, Poland and Scotland. The team won last month to stay in things and they made it in through the play-off. The second goal for Ireland came from Stoke City midfielder Jonathan Walters and now the team is into the tournament for the third time after last making it in 2012.
