NFL Rumors and News: Carolina Panthers Cornerback Josh Norman Fined For Patriotic Cleats

As many of you know it is Salute to Service month in the NFL which means teams wearing accessories and adorning football fields in flags before the start of every game.

The NFL however has decided to fine star Carolina cornerback Josh Norman for wearing patriotically themed cleats during his week 9 game. Norman whose grandfather was a Sergeant in the Korean War, decided to honor him and show his patriotism and the NFL immediately responded with the most hypocritical fine of all time. Norman stated "Price we pay for freedom and I'll take that any day".

The NFL's inability to look past some of these small gestures that mean a lot to the families and players who put their bodies on the line for this sport has been almost a slap in the face to most players who incur fines this season. Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward received a $5,787 fine for writing Iron Head on his eye black to honor his late father earlier this season making some NFL fans question the league and assuming maybe their focusing on the wrong things and players to fine.

A similar incident occurred when Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams (whose mother died of breast cancer) was fined during Breast Cancer Awareness month for wearing eye black that had the words "find a cure" written on it and a pink ribbon that was used to raise awareness for breast cancer. Williams also asked the NFL if he could wear all pink accessories in which the NFL (during breast cancer awareness month) strongly denied. The NFL is a very reactionary beast but one could not be disgusted with how archaic some of their rules can be.
