Matt Harvey has gone from the darling of the New York Mets to one of their most frustrating players. As the team aims to get over the loss in the World Series, all eyes turn to some of their biggest stars who have their futures being put into question. Harvey is officially one of them despite another strong season following a return from injury. Will the New York Yankees come calling?

There is no definitive talk that Harvey will be traded from the Mets organization, but many believe it is a real possibility if New York can get a fair return on the pitcher. According to the New York Post, the biggest knock against the pitcher is his reported selfishness which was highlighted several times throughout the year. While the team referred to them as "speed bumps" it is only fueling speculation. With the rise of Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard, Harvey could be on the outside looking in.

If Harvey is available in trades, do not expect the New York Yankees to come calling. Yes, the Yankees need another elite arm in their rotation. Yes, they have players that could be offered up in a deal. However, according to ESPN's Andrew Marchand, the Yankees do not want to overspend on a player. That is keeping them from showing free agency interest in players like David Price and Johnny Cueto. New York needs another reliable arm, but they also need a right bat and middle relief help. Blowing everyone on Harvey is not the ideal move.

Daniel Murphy is a different story. Murphy is set to be a free agent after being one of the heroes for the Mets this season. He did wonders for his value and the Yankees could be a team that comes calling considering the question mark at second base. With Dustin Ackley and Rob Refsnyder their best in-house options, Murphy is a huge upgrade over both of those players. Again, Murphy while be expensive and the Yankees will be faced with the decision to overspend or not. He would be a big help for the team, but he could cost too much.

The Yankees will be making a lot of moves this season to improve their roster. Players like Refsnyder, Ivan Nova, Michael Pineda and even Mark Teixeira could find themselves involved in trade talk as the winter months move forward. Deals for Harvey and Murphy can certainly not be ruled out.
