Philadelphia Eagles Rumors: Why Michael Vick is Still the Right Option

The Philadelphia are once again struggling in 2012 and find themselves with a 3-5 record after dropping their Monday Night Football matchup to the New Orleans Saints 28-13.

Andy Reid has been asked by many if Michael Vick is out as the quarterback and the answer is "No."

In all reality, after watching Vick get rammed time after time by the Saints' defensive line and linebackers, changing the quarterback will not make a difference unless Nick Foles plans on flying over 6' 5" defenders weighing 300 pounds.

The problem right now is the Eagles' offensive line. Vick was sacked seven times for his career high on Monday. I mean, the poor guy doesn't even have time to tuck the ball in after receiving the snap because defenders are all over him.

Jason Peters and Jason Kelce were lost the entire season and they were the Eagles' best offensive linemen. Peters has an ankle injury, while Kelce is out with a knee injury.

Until the Eagles address this issue, it does not matter who they have calling plays behind center and honestly, if I was a rookie quarterback right now, I wouldn't mind watching the game from the Eagles' sideline.

Foles is their rookie quarterback who impressed in the preseason. He took over in their August 20 matchup against the New England Patriots and after Vick was knocked out of the game and guided the Eagles to victory.

In total, Foles' preseason numbers were 553 passing yards, six touchdowns, two intereceptions and one sack. But that was preseason. Players were hungry to gain spots on the starting roster then and they are hungry for victories now.

There are probably only two players wired to take all this punishment, Michael Vick, because he has no other choice as the starting quarterback and maybe Tim Tebow since he is always trying to prove himself to his teammates, but I doubt any Eagles' fans want that guy around.

Fact: It is still not too late to turn the season around. The New York Giants struggle once the cold hits and Andy Reid gets better as the season rolls along.
