The Dallas Cowboys have some decisions to make during the team's bye week. Things are not going as planned while Tony Romo and Dez Bryant sit out with injury and head coach Jason Garrett is aware that some changes might need to be made in order to get the team going again. While the Cowboys are hopeful that Bryant makes his return in Week 7, the quarterback position could see some shifting.

When Brandon Weeden took over for Romo, owner Jerry Jones praised the backup for his passing abilities and was confident he could get a win. That has failed to happen and now the Cowboys are trying to think of a backup plan. The team has Matt Cassel under contract and Garrett notes that a change under center might be happening sooner rather than later.

"I don't want to get into the whole thing," said Garrett, via Marc Sessler of NFL.com. "We're gonna evaluate our quarterbacks, we're gonna evaluate our offensive line, we're gonna evaluate our tight ends, our receivers, our running backs, everybody on defense and everybody in the kicking game. We'll do that this week. We'll make any determinations as the week goes on."

It is no secret that Weeden is not playing well. He struggled against New England with just 188 yards and an interception. Will Cassel be better? Garrett noted that the veteran quarterback was comfortable in the offense. He came close to winning the starting job in Buffalo, so he might be able to help out.

The Cowboys are hopeful that the return of Dez Bryant can bring some wins to the team. The idea has been that Bryant would return for the game against the New York Giants following foot surgery. However, Garrett is not ready to guarantee anything. The receiver has been out on the field, but the head coach wants his wide receiver to run through a full practice before actually seeing game time.

"There's different kinds of injuries," Garrett said via ESPN.com, "but certainly his would be one that you would want to see him on the practice field and see how he handles it." "He's been out on the field a little bit, but he's really just taking it day by day and we'll see how he responds to the work going forward. The bone has to heal. Him being a tough guy doesn't really matter in this situation."

The potential return of Bryant has taken away any ideas that the Cowboys were planning on trading for a wide receiver. Roddy White has made it clear he is unavailable. Cordarrelle Patterson would be an option, but he is not much of an upgrade. The Cowboys are simply going to keep their fingers crossed that Bryant returns and brings the offense some fire power.
