MLB Playoffs Schedule and Standings: Dodgers, Mets Play Game 3, Matt Harvey Starts, Blue Jays Avoid Rangers Sweep, Cubs Win For 2-1 Cardinals Series

Oct 12, 2015 12:42 PM EDT

The MLB playoffs continue on Monday with four games on the postseason slate and the big focus will be on the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3. Matt Harvey will start that game, while the Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers will continue into Game 4 and the Chicago Cubs will host the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 3 at Wrigley Field.

The Dodgers and Mets series has some extra fire to it with what happened in Game 2 with Chase Utley and he is likely to play on Monday night. Utley was suspended for two games for his hard slide that injured Ruben Tejada, but if he appeals it likely will not be heard before the game on Monday in Queens. Matt Harvey is on the mound for the Mets and the series is now tied 1-1 after the Dodgers pulled out Game 2.

---UPDATE: Cubs win over Cardinals for 2-1 series lead.

Harvey will face off against Brett Anderson at Citi Field and the Mets are looking to bounce back in Game 3 after they lost in tough fashion in Game 2. The Utley play helped spark the winning inning for the Dodgers and the Mets will try and use that as some momentum for Monday. The Royals and Astros are playing the early game on Monday and that has Game 4 with the Astros leading the Royals 2-1 in the ALDS series.

The Blue Jays avoided getting swept by the Rangers and now RA Dickey will faceoff against Derek Holland in the Game 4 matchup. The Jays were the hottest team in the AL in the second half of the season and they will try and avoid elimination against the Rangers. The Rangers won the AL West after overtaking the Astros and they are now in position to advance.

The Cubs won in Game 2 against the Cardinals and that puts the NLDS at 1-1 heading into Game 3 at Wrigley Field. Jake Arrieta will be on the mound again for the Cubs after he helped pitch the team past the Pirates in the wild card and he pitched a shutout in that game. Arietta will face off against Michael Wacha in the game for the Cardinals.
