Pascual Perez was murdered in his home in the Dominican Republic as he was allegedly robbed.
According to reports from investigators in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, the former Major League All-Star had received his pension, which is believed to be the motive for the robbery.
Perez, who spent 11 years in pro-ball, finished his career with a 67-68 record and a 3.44 ERA.
In 1983 as a member of the Atlanta Braves, he went 15-8 good enough for an All-Star game appearance. That season he also threw seven complete games and a shutout. While with the Braves, he put up his best years despite going 1-13 in his final season in Atlanta.
Perez also amassed a career outside of the MLB while pitching for the Dominican League.
In 12 years pitching in the Caribbean the right hander won 44 games put up a 2.86 ERA and struck out 336 batters.
Perez was 55 and became a recent victim of the crime that plagues the island of the Dominican Republic.
