World Series 2012 Predictions Game 2: Tigers Will Tie Series Behind Doug Fister

Oct 25, 2012 03:37 PM EDT

The Detroit Tigers have nothing to worry about despite losing Game 1 with their ace on the mound. Doug Fister is here in Game 2 and it is not the first time he will have to pitch in a big game in the playoffs.

My prediction in Game 2 goes to the Tigers. Call me stubborn, despite having a poor MLB playoff predictions record so far (I'm like 2-6), but the numbers continue to be in the Tigers' side due to their pitching.

Here is why I like the Tigers tonight.

Fister, unlike Verlander, is more of a finesse pitcher. He has devastating movement in his change up and two seamer, which will be a drastic difference from Verlander's blazing fastball. Anyways, Verlander was not at his best with location and mechanics.

The Giants' pitcher, Madison Bumgarner has shown no signs of greatness in the 2012 playoffs. He provided clutch pitching performances in 2010, but opponents have owned him this year.

In eight innings pitched in two starts, Bumgarner has given up 10 runs. That equals to an 11.25 ERA so far in the 2012 postseason. The Giants have not won a game behind Bumgarner.

The Tigers do have some weaknesses against left handed pitching this season, but Bumgarner is no Barry Zito.

Look for the Tiger bats to wake up in Game 2, avoiding an 0-2 hole before they go home to Detroit to play Games 3,4 and 5.
