New York Giants Rumors: Victor Cruz Returning? Rashad Jennings Fantasy Starter, Eli Manning Takes Blame For Cowboys Loss, Ereck Flowers MRI

The New York Giants suffered an embarrassing loss on Sunday night football to the Cowboys and Eli Manning took the blame after telling running back Rashad Jennings not to score. Victor Cruz is looking to return sometime soon from his calf injury and once he is healthy it should help open things up for Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle.

Cruz is coming back from serious knee surgery, but it's his calf that is keeping him on the sidelines to start the season. According to the New York Post, Cruz was not able to practice leading up to the Cowboys game and he was inactive for Week 1. Cruz could be out until at least Week 4 with the injury. Cruz reportedly was recovering well from his knee surgery and was preparing to play against the Bengals in the preseason when he suffered the calf injury.

The injury is not the worst thing for Cruz, as this allows him to truly finish off his recovery from knee surgery last year. The Giants want Cruz back on the field and on Sunday night they showed that they may need him on the field if they want a chance at getting to the playoffs this season. The Cowboys were able to hold down Beckham, Randle and Preston Parker and moving forward those players will have to step up until Cruz returns.

The Giants had a bad loss on Sunday night football against the Cowboys and there was plenty of blame to go around for the team. According to ESPN New York, Eli Manning got confused on how many time outs the Cowboys had and that caused him to tell Rashad Jennings not to score. Manning later threw the ball out of the endzone and the clock did not run down enough, which led to the Cowboys getting the chance to score the winning touchdown with seconds left. Manning and head coach Tom Coughlin each took the blame for the mistakes.

Jennings had a solid game fantasy wise with 13 rushes for 52 yards and a touchdown and he may have added another one had the Giants did things the right way. As long as Jennings is healthy, he likely will be the starter for the Giants. The team also has Andre Williams and Shane Vereen on the depth chart and they plan on using all three this season. Jennings was banged up last year and that really hurt the Giants in the rushing game.

The Giants can ill afford to lose another player on the offensive line and they now have Ereck Flowers dealing with an ankle injury. According to ESPN.com, Dan Graziano reports that flowers went for an MRI after the game against the Cowboys to check out his ankle. Flowers looked like he was hobbled in the game against the Cowboys and was able to play through the injury and he is starting at left tackle with Will Beatty out with an injury.
