The Seattle Seahawks have Kam Chancellor continuing his holdout and he could extend that into the season if he doesn't get a new deal and this comes as Marshawn Lynch has settled his fines for not talking to the media in the playoffs last year, while Russell Wilson has caused a stir after saying "Recovery Water" helped heal him from a concussion.
The Seahawks have had an interesting camp so far in the secondary with Earl Thomas dealing with injury issues and Kam Chancellor not attending. According to Pro Football Talk, Chancellor may consider holding out into the season if he doesn't get a new deal and that will cost him fines. Chancellor is already getting fined for missing camp and PFT writes that if he continues to hold out into the season, the safety will lose over $200,000 per week.
Marshawn Lynch has been known for his antics with the media and he was previously facing a fine for $75,000 for not talking to reporters after the NFC Championship game last season. According to NFL.com, Lynch has settled his fine after appealing the decision, as the appeal was cancelled and the sides have reached a "settlement." Ian Rapoport reports that no hearing will be held now that the two sides have agreed to a deal.
Sources said to Pro Football Talk after news came out about Lynch that he would not have to pay anything now on the fines from the league. According to the report, the terms of the settlement means Lynch "won't have to pay a fine as long as he complies with the NFL's media policy." While Lynch has defied that in the past, the two sides may have finally come to an understanding about the media issues. Lynch reportedly will have to pay the original fine and a new fine if he does not comply with the policy again.
Lynch is a unique person and he often has not been comfortable with the media. Lynch previously was fined $50,000 and later he violated the policy again and was fined $100,000. Lynch has done the one word answer interviews and also the "I'm just here so I don't get fined" at the Super Bowl. Lynch is one of the best backs in the NFL and while the issues off the field can be a bit of a distraction, it has not hindered his play on the field at all for Seattle.
Russell Wilson has been front and center this offseason with his new contract extension and he was in the news again after being in a profile in "Rolling Stone" magazine. One bit caught the attention of people, as Wilson was asked about a play in the championship game against the Packers where he was hit in the head by Clay Matthews. Wilson looked like he suffered a concussion, but he did not leave the game and Wilson said that he was "fine" the "next day" after the hit and he said that the product "Recovery Water" helped him stay okay.
